This is a fabulous antique piece of Royal Worcester porcelain.
It is dated on the backstamp with the letter U - for the year 1883.
There are also impressed Victorian lozenge registration marks on the back of the coral section.
This is a very pretty wall vase or wall pocket - which would look fabulous in a seaside cottage or in a bathroom.
It wall vase takes the form of a white coloured whelk shell which is entangled in bits of coral.
Dimensions: Overall height is 11 inches and the width at the widest point is 5 inches.
In the 1870 and 1880s - there was a great demand for shell items with the Victorian market - and similar shell inspired ornaments were also made by the Belleek factory in Fermanagh in Ireland.
As you can see from my photographs - the modelling is very fine and Worcester have given so much attention to detail.
These Royal Worcester shell wall pockets are now getting quite hard to source - especially in such lovely, damage free condition.
