This is a pretty decorative piece of Victorian ceramics that dates to about the middle of the 19th Century.
It would have originally been one of a pair - with the other one having the figure in reverse and the little parrot on the other side of the chair.
This figurine is harder to source. A little child is shown dressed in a kilt, plaid socks and blue jacket. They wear a little cap with a large feather draped down to his shoulder. I would assume that this wee boy is one of the Royal Children, possibly the young Prince Edward (future King Edward VII). The chair looks more like a throne in size and design rather than a domestic chair. The chair is a bright orange shade and is edged with bocage to suggest an ermine trim. The bird is possibly a pheasant and a forms a reference to the Queen's estate at Balmoral. The subject seems to have been a popular one - and I have seen other variants of the composition with the inclusion of a small spaniel in front of the chair.
My figurine is in good condition with no damages (there is a wee scuff to the boy's nose, very minor) - you often find the black and white trim on the chair suffers from losses or damage. But given it must date to the 1850s / 1860s. It is a nice example and this is reflected in my asking price.
Dimensions: Height is 6 1/2 inches. The width is 3 1/4 inches. The depth is 2 inches.
