This is a lovely genuine antique Staffordshire figurine dating to the end of the 19th century (probably the 1880s). It is a genuine antique example and definitely NOT a reproduction.
It is a nice generous size of 14 3/4 inches in height. It is 9 1/2 inches wide and with a depth of about 3 3/4 inches. It certainly looks great on display.
It shows a man returning from hunting. He has a deer over the front of his saddle (not that I approve of these things! ). He is seated on a white horse. He is Scottish and is wearing a short kilt with a little flesh coloured leg seen below. His face is also a flesh tone and he is wearing a cap with a feather cockade to one side. The legs of the horse are very delicate and spindly - and these have no breaks or damages. The figurine as seen from the front is in lovely antique condition - and would look fine on a mantlepiece. There are however, a little bits of old crackling to the glaze on the back, near to the firing hole - so possibly done in the making. I have photographed this for you - please look at these carefully.
It is perhaps a slightly cruder modelled example - but this (and the slight areas of crazing on the back is reflected in my lower asking price for this figurine. However, it is a figure of a large size and is in good antique condition with no nasty chips or cracks.
If will have to be carefully packed to send to you - this will have to be with Royal Mail Tracked Parcel (Medium size).
