This is a very special vanity or dressing table set.
It is a set made from wood with sections decorated with poker work / pyrography. The wood is painted in dark burnt orange colour - and the flowers which have been created with a hot poker tip have been coloured in with yellow and green colours- it is certainly very lush!
The flowers are nasturtiums - which was a very popular decorative motif in the 1920s and 1930s. The pattern and colours are the same across each item - but if you look carefully at my images - you will see two pieces in the set have a pretty butterfly added.
Given that the set is now an antique item and about 100 years old - everything is in excellent condition for its age. There are no nasty chips or cracks to the wood - and the painted areas are without losses.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection.
I haven't seen such a fine or highly coloured set for quite some time now - so it is rather rare - and given the vibrant colours, condition and rarity of the set - it is listed at a good price.
Here is how the set breaks down:
Pair of Candlesticks: Height 14 cm and diameter of the base is 12 cm
The trinket box is 13 cm square and with a height of 5 cm. It is hinged at the rear and the lid lifts up - the interior is covered in dark orange velvet. There are some light marks on the velvet lining - but it is acceptable for a functional piece of this age.
The wee pot with the pink interior and butterfly on the lid is height 8 cm and the diameter at the base is 5.5 cm
The handheld mirror is 34.5 cm in length and at the widest point, it is 15.5 cm. The mirror diameter is 12.5 cm. The mirror is in good condition - a couple of little light bloom marks and some discoloured silvering at one end - but otherwise, it is fine.
I love the wee tray these come with - fabulous shape and decoration. This is 32.5 x 16 cm - with a height of 2 cm
It will have to be sent with Royal Mail Tracked (Medium Parcel) to you - this will be applied to your order at the checkout.
