This is a very attractive vintage Norwegian Plate. It is a more unusual one - being oblong in shape. It is decorated with a hand-painted abstract floral decoration. This is a unique piece of Norwegian Pottery.
The dish is fully inscribed with the maker's details on the reverse.
The company started in 1942 in Torkildstranda in Drøbak near Oslo. It was led by Tor Samuelsen. They produced beautiful stylised designs right up until 1967. Elle pieces are now starting to become highly collectable:
It is made of a thicker stoneware type of ceramic.
A great larger size for display and measures 13 3/4 inches in length and a width of 7 1/2 inches. It is 1 3/4 inches in height. It weighs 850 grams unpacked.
It would be great in a Scandi-modern interior - or on display on a coffee table or bureau.
