This is a fine 1920s copy of "The Morte d'Arthur" by Thomas Malory. The book looks at the birth, the life and acts of King Arthur and his Noble Knights of the Round Table.
It is a lavishly illustrated volume with beautiful works by Aubrey Beardsley. I am not a book dealer; I have owned this volume for many years and it comes from my own collection. It has been carefully packed away for many years and is in excellent antique condition.
This is the third (and most complete) edition published in 1927 by Dent & Co., London, and printed in Edinburgh by Turnbull & Spears.
It is one of a limited edition of 1600 copies and has a lovely black cloth binding with beautiful Art Nouveau gilt decoration (no dust jacket). The cover with its original dark cloth and gilt decoration was designed by Beardsley.
It has 538 pages and contains 20 full and double-page illustrations by Beardsley, as well as over 300 smaller designs and initial letters. The pages are generally clean and free of foxing
The binding is in fine condition with only a tiny chip to the top of the spine as shown, and very easy to restore.
The pages are generally nice and clean with many uncut. The (cut) edges of the pages on the top are decorated with gold.
