This is a lovely piece of vintage Murano glass - which is attributed to Barovier & Toso.
It is very typical of their fabulous designs from the late 1960s and early 1970s.
As you can see from my photographs - it is very pretty in form and colours.
The bowl has two rolled-down finger shapes on the center of each longer side - which look very decorative - but also formed little rests for a cigarette in the past. Of course - the bowl is now lovely and clean and there is certainly no evidence of it ever having been used as an ashtray.
It is certainly a very decorative piece of Italian glass - to me, it looks a little like a clear and cranberry-pink striped clamshell.
The glass is very thick with a spiral of cerise glass running right through it all. They call this kind of inclusion a spider's web.
It measures 6 inches at the longest and across it is 4 inches. The height is 2 1/4 inches.
It is in good vintage condition. The weight unpacked is nearly 600 grams.
