This is a beautiful large Poole Delphis Plate or lugged charger - and is a great size for display - measuring just under 14 inches in width and with a diameter of the main section of 12 inches.
This is a more unusual design by Poole - it is a large Delphis plate which was designed to be hung for display on a wall.
The charger has a black backstamp with POOLE over a leaping dolphin over England. This stamp was used by Poole from 1966 - 1980.
The decorator's mark on the back is an early one used by Pamela Bevans, who worked at Poole for only three years. Her early mark dates my plate to 1970 - 1972. She was certainly a very fine decorator - and as you can see from my photographs, my lovely charger is just beautifully painted.
The design is an abstract one - with a central stylised flower head - with four abstract yelllow and blue flowers around the sides and with stripy leaves in between. The decoration has all been hand-painted and no two plates are ever the same.
My charger is in fine condition - with no damages, cracks or crazing to the glaze.
My price reflects that this larger plate is a more unusual shape and it has been painted by one of Poole's leading decorators.
I would have to send this to you with Parcelforce24 so it will be insured in transit and packed in a large sturdy box.
