This is another lovely vintage paperweight - made in Scotland, possibly by Vasart Glass in the late 1940s or early 1950s. The glass dome has a more grey tone to the glass - rather than being crystal clear - this grey tone is often found in Vasart weights.
There is no maker's cane to be seen in this weight, this is consistent with what you might find in early Vasart examples. The canes and placement are a little more naive and would suggest earlier works.
There is an attractive red ground, into which the more chunky millefiori canes are placed. The base has a pontil mark.
There is a central white cane surrounded by pale blue canes in an open circle. There are 9 simple red and purple twisted ribbon canes forming half-length spokes - with purple, turquoise and pale blue and white millefiori canes in each section.
The diameter at the widest point is 3 inches and the height is just over 2 inches.
There are no damages or scratches to the glass. It is a fair price for this fine older Vasart paperweight - it might have been made by Salvador Vasart - but this is a speculative attribution on my part!
