John Färngren (1884-1960) was a Swedish silversmith and artist known for his Art Nouveau bronze vases, often featuring relief decor of flowers and dragonflies, and produced by Otto Meyer's foundry.
This charming little cone shaped cast bronze pot or vase is signed by Farngren on the foot rim (to the outside) and also with Meyer's Foundry Mark "Otto Meyer Fud". It is decorated around the rim with a relief frieze made up of dragonflies and flowers. The abdomen's of the insects form three tiny raised handles. This is echoed by the three cuts away section at the base, all as photographed.
It has such a fine and timeless Art Nouveau design.
It measures just under 3 1/2 inches in height. The diameter at the rim is 2 1/4 inches and the diameter of the base is 5 inches. It is a substantial pot and being made of thick case bronze has a bit of weight to it. Unpacked it is just over 1.1 kg.
My bronze pot is in excellent condition with a nice patina of age and no damages of any kind.
