This is certainly a fine and very interesting Scottish paperweight.
It was made by the paperweight artist, Helen MacDonald.
It is entitled Walking on Water and is part of Helen MacDonald's Biblical Series.
She started her biblical series in 1995 with a weight entitled Covenant - and has produced a total of 10 designs for the series.
This piece shows Jesus walking on Lake Galilee towards the boat filled with his disciples.
It from a limited of only 200 weights (fully subscribed) and on its release it had a price ticket of £215.
This one is No. 38 out of the 200 issued as inscribed on the base.
It is a very intricate design and would have taken great skill to have made this one.
The weight is a ball shape - with a flat faceted viewing window to the front - on the back is a deeply engraved star shape - which shows as a dramatic pattern when viewed through the front.
Inside, there is a little miniature scene showing a simple and abstracted form of Jesus walking on water with a white wave below his feet - a little tan / orange boat is seen in the distance - with its white sail echoing the white robe of Jesus. The base hue is blue to represent the colour of the sea.
The base is a bright blue shade to represent the water of the river.
This is a harder weight to source and probably an item for the more specialist Caithness collector.
It is in good vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
Dimensions: Height is 3 inches - and at the widest point it is 3 1/4 inches.
Unpacked it weighs: 700 grams.
This is a beautiful paperweight that I had been wanting for a long time. Valerie did an outstanding job of getting them to me! It took a long while to get them out because of all that has gone on over the last year but Valerie was able to send them once things loosened up in the UK! She is a fantastic seller and I would buy from her again!
