This is a most interesting large 1960s biscuit tin showing an artist’s impression of the completed Forth Road Bridge on the top of the lid- and with images of other iconic bridges in oval cartouches on each of the sides. So this tin dates to the time that the Bridge was under construction in 1962 / 1963.
Around the side of the tin are linear images of famous international bridges (The Golden Get, Bridge, The Sando Bridge in Sweden, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge) - and some statistics on the actual bridge itself
This is a harder to find McVities Biscuits advertising / souvenir tin, produced before the actual opening of the Forth Road Bridge in September 1964. The Road Bridge crosses the Firth of Forth at Queensferry and is located next to the Victorian Forth Rail Bridge.
The bridge is now nearly 60 years old - and a third bridge over the Forth has now also been completed (obviously not on this tin image).
Dimensions: length is 8 inches; depth is 6 1/2 inches and height is 6 inches.
The tin is in good vintage condition with no nasty scratches to the lid etc. The lid is hinged and the hinges are nice and secure.
