This is a lovely paperweight by the master of Scottish Glass, Colin Terris (1937 - 2007).
Colin Terris is acknowledged internationally as the Father of Modern Paperweight Design.
For 33 years he was the lead designer at Caithness Glass and in 1991 he was created a Member of the Order of the British Empire for his contribution to British Glass.
This is a weight entitled Sea Dance and is a harder to find weight issued in the 1980s. The design is a classic one - with most of the action and movement in the weight confined to the lower section - with a crystal clear dome above.
The base is a warm olive green tone with a blush of orange on top - and five dancing bubbles issues from the sea there are little internal waves with tiny bubbles forming the ocean spray - and around the outside are five large dancing air bubbles - and a floating central one takes centre stage.
Dimensions: Diameter is 3 inches - and with a height of 2 3/4 inches - so a nice large weight.
Marked stamped on the base with "Caithness Scotland SEA DANCE"
So a very fair price for this fine weight by Terris.
