This is a lovely little vintage handbag or evening bag. It dates to about the 1940s.
My bag has a little label stitched inside which states that the bag was Made in Austria.
It is a tapestry style bag with a chain handle - and a fancy gold-tone clasp closure, as photographed.
The main body of the bag is black and cream coloured - covered on both side with matching micro-size petit point decoration - the stitching is in miniature and in excellent clean condition - the bag has a border running around the sides of the bag, again as photographed.
The interior of the bag is in warm honey-cream taffeta which is totally clean - with no signs of any use. It is as nice as the day that it was made. There are two little pocket sections on the inside - where you could perhaps store your bank card to use when out and about.
It is certainly a beautiful example and looks like it has been stored away from the day that it was made and never used. Comes from a smoke-free house,
Dimensions of the bag body - is 6 inches in height including the clasp - the width is 8 inches. The drop including the handle is 10 inches.
