his is a pretty complete Art Deco Carlton Ware (Wiltshaw and Robinson) Coffee Set. It is the Parisienne Design and Pattern No. 4077.
This set dates to 1937 and it now is a much harder-to-find set.
This is the attractive earlier yellow and peppermint green colourway - with lots of gold gilding in vertical and horizontal bands. The exterior colour is more of the buttercup yellow shade - some images show pieces slightly lighter in hue than they actually are. All the gilding is in fine condition - with the only issue being a tiny flaw is to the gold gilt on the internal rim of the lidded sugar bowl - this is certainly very minor in nature (and photographed) and it is hidden by the bowl lid when on display.
The streamlined shape of the pieces - reminds me of the 1930s designs for ocean liners. It is amazing that this has survived for nearly 90 years intact.
As mentioned, they are generally in a very good vintage condition - and display well in a china cabinet. I have taken lots of images - so please check all these carefully - before committing to purchase the set.
The set comprises off one large coffee pot, a milk jug or creamer, and a lidded sugar bowl. It comes with six small coffee cups and saucers.
Dimensions: The coffee pot is 7 3/4 inches in height and from handle to spout is is 7 1/4 inches. The cups are 2 1/2 inches in height and the diameter at the top is 2 3/4 inches. The sugar bowl is 3 1/4 inches in height and 5 1/4 inches from handle to handle. The milk jug is 3 1/4 inches in height and the handle to the spout is 4 3/4 inches.. The saucers are 4 1/2 inches in diameter. They are a bit of like crazing to the surface - please look at my close-up images carefully.
The set is priced very favourably - and it is a very low price for early Cartlon Ware Deco designs.
