It is not often that I add an artwork to my site which does not have an attribution. However, this lovely vintage print is so pretty that I have decided to make an exception.
It is inherently a still-life subject - showing a tea table all laid out.
Featured on the table are a large teapot, cup, and a large white jug full of bright yellow daffodils. There are a pair of vibrant coloured orange fruits in the foreground. Sitting behind the spread on the table is a young lady who is wearing a dark blue top and has simple features delineated.
The work has not been signed, dated or editioned - perhaps the only one made or to have survived.
The surface looks like it has been drawn with a rough waxy crayon or greasy pastel. I have taken close-ups of interesting surface textures for your inspection.
I am thinking that this is probably a Scottish work - dating to around the 1980s. The style of the work reminds me of a work by Pierre Bonnard from the 1930s - he excelled at this slightly claustrophobic interior scenes with tabletops set out with foodstuff and forming a still life subject. Obviously, the creator of this stunning print has been looking at his work for inspiration.
Please note: this is an original artist's print - it is not a photographic reproduction.
It looks just so attractive on display - and it is ready for you to hang straight on your wall.
The print is in fantastic condition - it has a new fresh acid-free window mount - and has a fine dull gold-tone frame - as photographed.
Dimensions: The frame is 52 x 57 cm. The image size is 36 x 46 cm.
