This is a lovely little Aldermaston Pottery Vase.
It was probably made by Martin Wright in the 1980s. He favoured this use to wax resist decoration in his pots. The mark on the base is very similar to the ones recorded on other similar vases made by him.
The Aldermaston Pottery was founded in Berkshire in the 1950s by Caiger-Skith and Geoffrey Eastop. Over the years the studio has been home and training ground for many fine British art potters. Over 40 years, about 60 artists worked at the Aldermaston pottery, producing beautiful hand-decorated earthenware.
The pottery is best known for its fine tin-glaze wares.
This delightful little hand-painted vase is in great vintage condition and has no damage.
Height is just under 6 inches. The diameter at the base is just over 2 3/4 inches and the diameter at the top is just over 3 1/2 inches. The diameter at the main body section is 4 1/2 inches.
A very pretty decorative piece.
