This is a lovely little Aldermaston Pottery Goblet. It is one of two goblets by Caiger-Smith that I have in my store.

It has an attractive ochre yellow lustre abstract pattern with yellow vertical stripes. This is a more unusual pattern for Aldermaston items.

The goblet also has a painted mark on the base which I believe is the signature of Alan Caiger-Smith (1930 - 2020). The date mark is 1965.

Alan Caiger-Smith was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1930. He studied drawing and painting at the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts.

In 1947 he went on to read History at King's College, Cambridge, graduating in 1952. He trained in pottery at the Central School of Art and Design in 1954 under Dora Billington.

The Aldermaston Pottery was founded in Berkshire in the 1950s by Caiger-Skith and Geoffrey Eastop. Over the years the studio has been home and training ground for many fine British art potters.

The pottery is best known for its fine tin-glaze wares.

This delightful little decorative goblet is in excellent condition.

Height is just over 5 inches. The diameter at the top of the bowl section is 3 1/2 inches. The diameter of the foot is just under 3 inches.

It will cost £4.95 to send to you in the UK. This will be with Royal Mail Recorded and this will be applied to your order at the checkout.
