This is one of four lovely antique Persian wall mirrors that I have in my online store.
All four of them came to me together - and stylistically they are very similar so dating them all to the late 19th century / early 20th century.
They are all in very good antique condition - with little damages - and complete with original mirror - the mirrors have a little clouding and spotting commensurate with age - but nothing to worry about and part of their charm.
These are probably more specialist items for the collector.
The wall mirrors are designed to hang on a wall - and are made of papier-mache and wood. The larger ones are in two separate raised layers - and the smaller ones are of one layer.
All the decorations are hand-painted - and they are certainly very charming.
Generally, all are in good condition generally with no breaks, losses to the structure of the mirror and no paint losses, etc - but bear in mind these are old items and will not be pristine pieces.
So here is my third one.
This is one of my larger two - it measures 29 cm in height by 17 cm at the widest point.
The front of the mirror is a random shape. It is built upon three separate layers.
There is a bottom base layer - this is decorated around the edges with plates with pink and red flowers. The next layer has the gold curving carved sections at the top and the random shape around the mirror section. The third top layer is the oblong mirror section. This has two doors.
The decoration on the doors has one gentleman on each door. They seem to be dancing around and waving both their arms in the air. They wear long orange robes and turbans.
The back of the mirror has orange plants with a bird sitting in it - there is a bit of craquelure to the surface of the paintwork and varnish on the back - but this is all stable.
There is no hanging hook present on this mirror.
It is a rare survivor and a great wee item to add to your collection of Persian antiques or antique mirrors.
