This is a very pretty antique figurine of a lady holding a large flat basket in front of her, that also serves as a little dish. She stands on a circular base made to look like rocks. There is a beautifully rendered tree stump behind the lady and assists her in holding up the basket.
A lovely blanc de chine colour which is embellished with little gold highlights - and pastel colours on the lady's face, She wears a faint pink blush dress.
This fine figurine was modelled by the celebrated modeller for Worcester, James Hadley (1837 - 1903).
She has an impressed patent or model number on the base. This dates to around 1902. She is a much rarer model, inspired by the pretty Kate Greenaway designs. Model No. 963.
A larger size which looks fabulous on display. Overall height: 8 inches. Width 6 3/4 inches.
As you can see she is beautifully modelled and painted.
These Edwardian figurines, inspired by Greenaway illustrations are now hard to find and much sought after - so listed at a fair piece.
My figurine is In perfect antique condition with no damages.
