This is a very attractive set of vintage Murano millefiori beads - which form a 26-inch (66 cm) long necklace.
The beads are all good quality vintage ones - probably 1920s or 1930s in date.
The necklace has a total of 21 millefiori rainbow coloured beads which are all separated by little faceted black glass spacer beads, as photographed. The larger beads are in graduated sizes with the larger egg-shaped ones at the base and getting smaller as you go along the length and get nearer to the neck area.
The largest bead measures just over 3 cm in length - and with a diameter at the widest point of 2 cm.
They are certainly high-quality handmade glass beads - all made in Murano, Venice.
All the beads in my shop I have personally owned for many years and all came to me from the same source - so assuming they are all in the same general date range (ie first half of the 20th century). They are certainly not Chinese in origin !
I have taken lots of close up images of this lovely necklace. You can see from my photographs - that the canes used are fine ones and that each bead has been skillfully made.
All the beads are in good condition with no chips or cracks etc - with the exception of a little loss to one of the smaller millefiori beads which would sit on the back of your neck - so certainly not obvious when worn. The loss is not sharp and you need to look in close up to see the issue. This is taken into consideration with my pricing on this - of course, there is enough length on this set for you to completely remove this wee bead.
The main base colour for each millefiori bead is a cobalt blue glass with lots of tutti-frutti canes gathered on the surface and melted together and then polished to form a smooth finish.
The necklace has a good length to it - and has no fastening clips as it comfortably goes over your head.
It is a fine necklace - and despite one of the smallest millefiori beads having a little loss - it is a most attractive one. On offer here at a fair price I have taken the price down from £75 to £65 to take into account the small sized single damaged bead.
