This is a rare item - a fine vintage enamel and copper pendant which was made by the Scottish artist, John Leman
It dates to the late 1960s or early 1970s - and looks to earlier Celtic designs for inspiration.
This is a typical piece of enamelware by Leman - and it is a copper pendant that has a mythical dragon-like creature on the front - with copper tones and a background colour of dark green enamel, as photographed.
It is signed on the reverse, as photographed.
In lovely clean vintage condition with no damages and comes with its original leather hanging thong.
Dimensions: height is 6 cm and the width at the widest point is 3 cm - the leather thong is about 25 inches in length and goes over your head quite easily.
John Leman appears to have worked in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, in the 1970s. He made a variety of decorative items - all decorated with jewel-like enamels.
These hard-to-find enamel pieces are highly collectable and now quite hard to source - works by Leman are of great interest to collectors of 20th-century Scottish outsider design. These enamel wares are now about 50 years old.
