This is another lovely vintage paperweight - made in Scotland, possibly by Vasart Glass in the 1950s / 1960s. The glass dome has a more grey tone to the glass - rather than being crystal clear - this grey tone is often found in Vasart weights.
There is no maker's cane to be seen in this weight, and again this is consistent with what you might find in Vasart examples.
I love all the pretty pastel colours on this one - it is a little smaller than some of my other ones - but still very attractive.
This one has a dark ground, into which the millefiori canes are placed. This is polished on the base - and there are little signs of wear - where the weight has been picked up and put back down over the years. There is a tiny ding (about the size of a pinprick!) to the side near the bottom - and it is a smaller size - so this is reflected in a lowered asking price. I have taken lots of images for your inspection.
There is a central red rosette - surrounded by lilac, aqua green and pink canes - placed in concentric circles from the centre to the outer rim. There are 10 ribbon latticino canes forming half-length spokes
The diameter at the widest point is 2 1/4 inches and the height is just over 1 1/2 inches. Unpacked it is 215 grams.
Fair price for this fine vintage 1950s Scottish paperweight.
