This is a very stylish piece of vintage Scottish jewellery. It is made by Ceard as annotated on the reverse. The design is called Grasses.
The necklace takes the form of an elongated lozenge with an openwork decoration with grass seedheads.
It is made of matt finished pewter and is in very good vintage condition.
It is being sold all nice and clean, ready to wear.
Dimensions: The length of the main pendant section is 7 cm x 2 cm at the widest - the length of the chain is 64 cm (25 inches) so a nice long length. It goes over your head without needing to use the ring fastening to open and shut it. The chain is NOT silver but a white metal one.
There is a large loop on the back to thread the chain through - so it is very easy to replace the chain if you wish to.
Ceard is a Gaelic word, meaning maker or craftsperson. The Ceard Company dates to the 1970s and was a collective of Scottish jewellers who made fine pewter items. The company's lead designer was John Forsyth. Their pieces of pewter jewellery are inspired by Scottish places and wildlife but are made in a modernist style.
These are now highly collectable. I have a wee range of them for sale in my shop - postal discounts would apply if you would like more than one piece.
