This is a stunning little 1920s nursery teapot made by Shelley Pottery.
It is from a range of nursery-inspired designs by the illustrator Mabel Lucie Attwell. It was hand-painted - and designed in the late 1920s. This one is the smaller of the two sizes that were produced. The base has the green print printed mark for Shelley "Shelley" and "England" below that mark, also the Registered Design Number "RD.724421" (dating to 1926) printed in black.
There is the Mabel Lucie Attwell inscription on the main body section, as photographed.
This lot is for the cute teapot which takes the form of a little Boo-Boo house. The roof and chimney form the teapot lid. It is in excellent damage-free condition - and with bright strong colours (no re-painting or over-painting).
The wee teapot is modelled as a little house. It takes the form of a mushroom. Boo Boo is shown standing at the door - he is shown as orange rather than his more customary green shade. I have taken lots of images for your inspection. It has no condition issues or damage. So harder to find in this condition.
The height is about just over 4 1/2 inches - and from spout to handle it is 6 inches.
Given that these antique Shelley wares are now quite hard to find and this one is in such a lovely condition - my asking price is certainly a very fair one.
