This is a very decorative genuine antique desk or table lamp.
It is an adjustable cast brass GEC (General Electric Campany) desk lamp. It has an impressed GEC mark on the cast iron weighted base, as photographed.
It is in good antique condition - and is nice and clean. It has recently been fully re-wried with earth point for your safety.
These old brass lamps are top-quality items. They are so beautifully made - and are therefore both functional and attractive.
The shade is not original to the lamp - but dates to the same period - around 1905.
The shade is antique and NOT a modern reproduction. The vaseline glass shade is in excellent condition with no damages - and it looks just so pretty on the lamp. It is bell-shaped with a frilled edge - the tips of the edge section are more opaque pale creamy yellow in colour - the central ribbed areas are more clear and acid yellow in hue.
The shade measures as follows: height roughly 3 1/2 inches - and the diameter is 5 1/2 inches.
The arm section can be moved up and down by loosening the heart-shaped thumb screw - and the end of the arm has an articulated ball joint with another thumb screw to control the angle that the shade can be pivoted to and set at a variety of jaunty angles.
The lamp has been re-wired and earthed for sale - it has a new "old-fashioned style" three-core twist cloth cable in an old gold colour.
The base is circular and stepped, as photographed. I love the big loop of a carrying handle at the top.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection - this should show in close-up all the details of this lovely lamp. The brass has a nice warm golden glow to the metal - it has a nice sheen to it and is nice and clean. All ready just to plug in and light up. A great feature light for a smart period interior.
The lamp will be very carefully packed and sent to you with Parcelforce48. This is a tracked service and it costs about £14. The postage is applied at check out.
UK postage only.
The overall height of the upstand is 23 inches and the diameter of the base is 6 1/4 inches.
Absolutely first class service, I would recommend iconic Edinburgh to anyone.
