This is a very rare vintage Japanese tinplate battery-operated toy.
He is called Blacksmith Bear and was made by A1 in Japan.
He comes with his original box - as photographed. The box is in pretty good vintage condition - and the toy inside is in excellent condition - and I dont think that it has ever really been played with.
It takes two 1.5 v modern batteries - which are inserted into the tin base section - then the toy can be switched on and off with the wee toggle switch on the top of the base.
The little bear is occupied in making a lucky horseshoe - and he raises his arm up and down in the act of hammering the metal - he has a little light up "mock" furnace to his side.
His head is stored away from his body in the box - and you have to pop this on when he is out of the box (as made).
I have inserted the batteries and the wee toy works. I sadly cannot post the batteries to you - as those are banned items with the Royal Mail. You can get them in any shop quite easily.
As mentioned earlier - this is a very rare survivor (especially in this condition) - he is an item for the specialist Japanese novelty toy collector. They do not appear on the open market that often and usually go through specialist toys and games sales. This is a very fair price for this rare toy - even with a little room for specialist re-sellers in this field.
Boxed up - he is 600 grams.
I will have to get him insured in transit and packed in a very safe box to you. This will make the postage with Royal Mail Next Day Special Delivery £10 - this will be applied at checkout.
