This is a very attractive large vintage paperweight which was designed in the 1960s / 1970s by Fratelli Toso, Vetreria Murano, Italy
This is a genuine vintage Murano paperweight. It probably originally had an old Toso Murano Label on the base - but this is no longer here. But the fine details of all the canes and the stylised pontil mark are consistent with it being a Fratelli Toso example.
In lovely vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There are a couple of tiny air bubbles in the clear glass dome, as in the making (photographed).
It is a nice large size - measuring 3 1/4 inches in diameter - and with a height of 2 1/2 inches.
This is a fine quality weight made of a close-pack carpet of millefiori canes - the canes look like lots of little tightly furled cabbage roses. I have taken lots of close-up images of them for your inspection. I love all the little air bubbles trapped between lots of the canes in the weight - these make the weight twinkle in the light and look like tiny silver balls in the glass. The ground appears all speckled with multi-colours splatters and has a polished pontil mark - the mark looks like a halo shape with a frosted outer ring and polished central section - and again photographed in close-up.
The colours in "real life" for all the canes are a bit brighter than suggested in my photographs.
A lovely weight and in excellent condition, and listed at a fair price.
