This is another attractive piece of vintage Phoenician Glass in my store.
It dates to 1990 and takes the form of a paperweight. It has its original sticker and has an etched signature to the base, as photographed.
It is in excellent damage-free condition - but with some light scratches to the base commensurate with age - where the weight has been picked up and admired and put back down over the last 32 years.
The Phoenician Glass Company was founded on Manoel Island, Malta in the 1980s. The founder was Leonard Sullivan - who was a former worker at the celebrated Mdina Glass factory. Many of the pieces from this date are very similar to designs made by Michael Harris. Phoenician Glass was named after the ancient civilization that colonized Malta during the 1st Millenium BC.
It is an attractive paperweight that is covered with shiny dark purple thick ribbon-like trails and purple and green lusters like peacock wings or that you might find on Tiffany glass. I hope that my images have done this piece justice.
The weight takes the shape of a ball measuring 3 inches.
It will cost £4.95 to post to UK addresses and this will be applied at check-out.
