These are a fine large-sized pair of antique Victorian Staffordshire dogs - they take the form of a pair of seated chimney spaniels.
They are genuine Victorian examples, and definitely NOT reproductions.
They are nicely modelled examples and are a properly matched pair, as created.
Each dog has a little gold coloured collar with a padlock on it - the padlock and chain on each dog have some rubbing and losses to the gilding - but this is common on these old Victorian examples. There is a lot of the original gold gilding left on the dog's fur. They have painted yellow eyes - as issued - and I love the big curly tails on these ones.
They are fine display pieces - and will look fabulous on a mantlepiece or old-fashioned kitchen dresser. Sadly there is a little firing crack to the back of the tail on one of the dogs, This is very minor in nature and looks like it was done in the creation of the figure - and as photographed for my listing.
These are a very large pair. Height: 12 inches. Width: 12 1/2 inches. They have a depth of 5 inches. They are very substantial Victorian ones - each dog weighs 2kg each.
The weight prevents these from being sent outside the UK. I will have to send with Parcelforce48. This is going to cost about £14 for tracked postage and applied to your order at checkout.
