This is a lovely extra large wall plate designed by the Danish designer Bjorn Wiinblad (1918 - 2006) for Rosenthal.
This plate is in lovely vintage condition with no damages. It is a very large size for display measuring some 14 inches. It is 1.3 kg in weight.
The design is for Summer
It features the little couple in a garden blooming with flowers. The lady waters a parched miniature rose tree - and the gentleman plays with a flight of little birds who land on his hand.
A typically whimsical vintage 1970s Wiinblad design (but re-issued by Rosenthal as a centenary piece in the 1990s). His work has recently been the subject of a major retrospective exhibition at the Arken Museum of Modern Art in Copenhagen.
