This is a pretty vintage face powder compact that takes the form of a little handbag.
It dates to the 1950s and was probably made by Mascot (although not marked as such). It is very similar to my Mascot one on sale which has an embroidered panel on one side.
This one is made back and front from a gold-tone metal - with pretty patterned engine-turned decoration, as photographed. The sides all around are plain and shiny. There is a handle on the top of the bag – and you push this back to open up the compact. There are little engraved details on the front - which resemble a lock on a briefcase.
The original powder sifter and thin puff are still inside. Both of these are generally nice and clean.
The hinges and opening mechanism work just fine and are firm.
The mirror in the lid has no issues, marks or damages.
Dimensions: the height to the top of the handle is 2 ½ inches – and the width is just under 3 inches. The depth of the compact is about ½ inch.
It is listed at a fair price - these novelty compacts are much sought-after items.
It will cost £4.95 to send to you with Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded Delivery in the UK.
