This is a rare abstract paperweight by Philip Chaplain.
It is called AZURINA and is dated to 1992
It comes from a limited edition of only 150 weights (closed at 119). It originally retailed for £125 - which reflected the complexity of the design.
This paperweight is No 61..
It is a more unusual Caithneww wieght - in that the interest is not so much on the internal decorative - but in the glass artist, Philip Chaplain, showing off his skills in cutting and faceting the glass. The paperweight is shaped like a glass end and needs to be display best on a little stand or ring.
There are a few blue flumes or flower petals inside - but this time the interest is with the exterior - the outside has deeply engraved ridges all around the top - which meet in a rounded point to the apex. The bottom section has eight circular polished facets all around, as photographed. .
It is in good condition - but sadly with a couple of teeny weeny fleabites to a flume near the top-tip. You do not see this when the weight is on display. Noted here for accuracy and to take pricing into account. If perfect I would have priced this at £195.
Postage in the UK will be £4.95 for Royal Mail Recorded Post. This will be applied at the checkout.
