These are great items if you have a small wedding coming up and you might wish to drink a wee dram of the health of the bride and groom.
This is a matching set of vintage silver plate tastevin or wine tasters - so also a great gift for a bon viveur and lover of fine wines.
I have six available in my online store - but I am selling individually so the price of £25 is for each SINGLE one. ALL are in excellent condition.
ONLY TWO ARE LEFT (Feb 2024) ALL SOLD MAY 2024
As you can see - these tastevins are of a very paired down design - also Art Deco in form. The maker / retailer is inscribed on the base of each: Alexander Scott - who was a top-quality silversmith and retailer based in Glasgow in the first half of the 20th century.
He has been looking at a more traditional Scottish quaich for inspiration for these tasters. The bowl is round and shallow - and instead of having the usual twin handles - so that you could pass the drinking cup around to guests - this wine taster has only one individual handle to one side.
These are very unusual and larger-sided tasters - I would imagine that they are probably more functional as a toasting vessel.
All are in excellent condition - with no dents, no inscriptions, no scratches. The plate appears to be nice and thick on the item and with no loss to the plate - they are all very shiny. Probably great items to acquire as the quality in the making is almost as good as you might find on solid silver examples.
Dimensions: The diameter of the bowl section is just under 10 cm. The height is about 2.5 cm. From the edge of the bowl to the end of the handle - it measures 12.5 cm
Just so there is no confusion, although I have included images of six of these vessels - the price here is for just one. Please clip on the down arrow to select amounts if you would like more than one.
