This is a very special piece of vintage Scottish Celtic Design Jewellery.
It was made by Robert Allison - who is better known for his Celtic designs in silver - he does not work in gold very often - so a special and much rarer piece by him.
As you can see from my photographs - it is a very fine Scottish brooch indeed - and so beautifully made.
It is marked on the back with the marker's initials RA and with a gold hallmark for Edinburgh and the date 1960. So a fine piece of jewellery now 60 years old - but looking as good as if it were made yesterday.
It also has an impressed mark which reads: SCOTLAND
It has a circular Celtic shield shape with central solid gold decoration - and a fine ring to the outside - above is a Celtic Cross shape which has thick gold "wire" work twists as decoration. There is a large faceted Scottish citrine in the centre and it is firmly held in place with claws.
There is also a little gold chain and safety catch - so that you can pin it a second time to your clothing to keep it doubly safe.
It is 3.5 cm in diameter and about 10 grams in weight.
The interest in this piece is not in the weight of the gold - but in the exceptional quality of the design and sheer craftsmanship in the making.
UK Postage will be for Royal Mail Special Next Day Delivery - this will cost £4.95 and applied to your order at the checkout.
