This is one of a few charming little etchings by William Walcot that I am listing from my own personal collection.
This is a second impression that I have been lucky to own of this work. I have already sold the first one in my shop.
Each etching is pencil-signed, in excellent antique condition, and beautifully presented.
It is all ready to hang on your wall. It has a nice vintage gold-toned frame - and it is lovely and clean with no issues,
Dimensions: The image size is 7.5 x 9.5 cm. The frame size is 30 x 30 cm.
The condition of this lovely etching has been taken into account in my pricing.
This little gem of an etching shows the fabulous Playfair gallery building, the Royal Scottish Academy - which is located at the junction of Princes Street and the Mound in Edinburgh.
This print comes from a small series of five etchings made by Walcot called "The Edinburgh Set". They were issued in 1918 and only had 75 published.
Walcot has shown the front portico which is topped with the massive sculpture of the young Queen Victoria which was created by the Scottish sculptor, Sir John Steell. In such a small scale - he has certainly caught the grandeur of this fine Classical building. To the left-hand side, we see the fine Georgian buildings on Princes Street and lots of Edwardian ladies and gentlemen hurrying about attending to their daily business and of course, shopping.
A charming print by this celebrated printmaker and in good antique condition.
