This is a pretty piece of vintage hand-blown Scottish art glass. It an earlier piece of Vasart glass and it dates to around the 1950s.
It has a little polished pontil that you find on pieces of Monart glass - but this is a piece of later Vasart glass. The shape number is V022.
It is certainly a stunning piece of Vasart. The vase has such a vibrant colour - with a bright yellow at the base - and around the rim is tangerine glass. Where the two colours meet - there are whorls of brown glass. I love the vertical streaks of a more buttery yellow colour - which runs from the swirls towards the foot section. It enlivens the base shade. It is quite an unusual colour combination - the rarer colourway is reflected in my asking price.
The glass is thick and heavy on this one - it is a substantial piece - with an attractive flared trumpet shape. Unpacked it is 1 kg in weight.
Excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
Nice larger size measuring 8 inches in height. The vase flares out towards the rim - which is 7 inches. The foot is 4 1/4 inches.
