This is a large piece of genuine Monart Glass. It is of a "bucket" shape - narrower to the base - and flaring out gradually towards the rim. I think that it is Shape G. The base is flat with no plinth sections. The colour is a Celadon green to the base - and it has a subtle colour change towards the rim of a more blue tone. There are no aventurine inclusions in this vase.
It dates to around the 1930s. It has the typical raised Monart polished pontil mark on the base. It sadly has lost its original paper label over the years.
It is certainly a beautiful example of vintage Scottish glass and of a much sought-after larger size. It has more minimalistic styling than some other ones in my store - this one is all about the graduation of shades from top to bottom of the vase.
Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is a little blemish on the inside near the base. This is hard to see and you need to look in bright light to see it. It is like a little scuff to the glass and it is slightly rough and appears more white. It is about a cm long. You do not see it on the outside and certainly not when the vase is on display. It is such a subtle little mark - that I cannot even photograph it for you. The flaw in the making has been taken into consideration with my pricings. There is also a wee stray silver aventurine which got into the glass gather when it was being blown - and have photographed this for you too.
It has been rather difficult to photograph due to all the reflections on the thick clear outer casing and the very subtle colours of this piece - but you won't be disappointed with it. Any white flashes are not on the vase - but are just reflections.
It is a big one! And measures 9 3/4 inches in height. The diameter at the rim is 6 1/2 inches. The base measures 4 inches
