This is a large piece of genuine Monart Glass dating to the 1930s.
It is a more unusual Art Deco piece and looks like a large egg cup. The top section is a tall bowl shape and it has an applied foot. Again, the glassblower has concentrated on the subtle glass shades in this vase. The base is a mottled aqua-green colour and it gradually changes to more of a blue-green at the rim.
I love the little applied foot - the pontil on this shape is also a more unsusal one, being ground out - rather than having a raised round pontil.
It is certainly a beautiful example of vintage Scottish glass and is a rarer shape.
Excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
It has been rather difficult to photograph due to all the reflections on the thick clear outer casing and the very subtle colours of this piece - but you won't be disappointed with it. Any white flashes are not on the vase - but are just reflections.
My vase measures measures 5 1/2 inches in height. The diameter of the rim is 4 3/4 inches.
