This is a pretty hand-painted early 20th-century Bough jam pot.
This is an attractive little pot that has been beautifully decorated by Richard Amour, as initialed on the base.
The main body of the jam pot has been painted with a bright yellow wash. The top of the pot has a pretty painted band of delicate pink flowers, green leaves, rose-hips or berries, and a background blue wash, This design has been picked up again on the lid and set off with a cute little bobble green knop.
The height is (including lid knop) is 3 3/4 inches. The diameter at the widest is 3 inches.
In excellent condition with no damage.
HISTORY: Bough Pottery was founded by Elizabeth Amour in the 1920s. They specialized in decorating blanks - which they bought in from pottery companies in England and Scotland (many from Maling Pottery, Newcastle).
This beautiful lidded pot is a rare one - and it was made by Elizabeth's brother, Richard. He lived from 1900 to 1949.
Interest in Bough pottery has been of particular interest of late - and my asking price here reflects this renewed interest in the pottery.
