This is a lovely large lidded pot made by Buchan Pottery, based at Portobello, near Edinburgh (now closed).
It is certainly a most substantial piece of vintage Scottish Pottery.
It measures: 8 inches in height - and from handle to spout it is 7 inches. The diameter of the pot section at its widest is about 7 inches.
This lovely pattern is called Brittany - it features a stylized design with glowing apples on one side and strangely with sliced onions on the other side. These are all hand-painted. There are decorative abstract patterns also featured on the pot - mainly linear designs painted using a fine blue line.
These large squat-lidded pots in this very pretty pattern and a most sought-after one are now very collectable. This one is in good vintage condition with no damage.
