I adore this amazing and rare Bough Pottery pattern - I have in my store a number of plates and shallow bowls which are great items for larger dinner parties or formal dining. So just for display on shelves in a designer kitchen.

I have also a green lidded tureen or serving dish available and a little yellow trinket box on offer in my store.

These designs hardly ever come up for sale - and this wonderful Art Nouveau / Aesthetic Movement design is certainly a most eye-catching and pleasing one.

It reminds me of a Japanese Cloud Vector pattern. There was great interest at this time in Japanese Art and Design in Scotland.

The abstract clouds are a glorious vibrant lime colour and their outlines are drawn out in gold. They are set on a grey band around the rim and all around the main body of the base section. There are little black and white stripes shapes scattered here and there in the design. The center of each shallow bowl has a very pale hint of a yellow glaze - it is a very pale painterly wash applied with a large brush (being hand painted this colour is not uniform and some are slightly darker and patchier in its shade).

Each shallow (soup) bowl has a diameter of 9 inches and is marked with the maker's initials on the base: these are RA for Richard Amour.

I currently have 13 of these ones in this size on offer.

THE PRICE OF £20 IS FOR ONE SHALLOW BOWL ONLY.

Again, like many Bough items - they probably started life as a "blank" by Maling and Sons, Newcastle-on-Tyne, and used by Bough Pottery who would acquire lots of plates to hand decorate and glaze.

This is certainly a stunning and more unusual piece of Scottish Art Pottery. You don't see this design very often and it is exceptional to find such a large group of matching tableware.

The rarity of this quantity and in particular with this pattern is very special - and you won't see amounts offered for sale.

The shallow dishes are being offered at a bargain price of only £20 each.. they are nearly 100 years old, hand-painted, and with no chips or cracks.

CONDITION: In just excellent condition for Bough pieces now nearly 100 years old - with no chips or cracks.  There is a very slight bit of craquelure to the clear glaze - noticeable on closer inspection, especially on the central pale yellow central space. This might mean that this would not be best used for regular dining - but perhaps for more special occasions and for display.

I have taken a lot of images of 12 that I am offering. If you want only a couple - I will match up the central yellow colours so they look uniform in shade.

Please feel free to discuss with my interest and postal discounts for job lots etc.

Bough Pottery was founded by Elizabeth and Richard Amour in the 1920s. They specialized in decorating blanks - which they bought in from pottery companies in England and Scotland (many from Maling Pottery, Newcastle).

It will cost £4.95 (for up to two plates) to post to you in the UK with Royal Mail Recorded Delivery - this will be applied to your order at check out.
