This is a rare pottery bowl made by Robert Heron & Sons.
Robert Methven Heron was the owner of the Fife Pottery in Kirkcaldy. He introduced a new pottery range called Wemyss Ware in 1882.
It is a fine piece of antique Scottish studio pottery - and you can clearly see the influence of Heron's earlier Wemyss Wares in this design.
It is a very fresh hand-painted bowl with a more unusual Methvens Three Kilns Mark on the base, as photographed. It is a bit smeared in its application - but you can clearly see the word Methvens.
It is in good condition with no chips or cracks - there is a little craquelure to the glaze - very subtle in nature and certainly not disfiguring. There is no nasty staining to the interior of the bowl.
Dimensions: the diameter is just over 6 1/2 inches. The height is 3 3/4 inches.
Price to post in the UK will be £4.95 - this is with Royal Mail 2nd Class Recorded and applied to your order at checkout.
