This is a lovely vintage Mdina Glass vase. It is signed Mdina to the base.
It dates to the early 1970s. It is very reminiscent of similar vases being produced by Michael Harris in the UK.
Glass production in Malta began in 1968 when Michael Harris moved there to set up Mdina Glass. The company started making organic glassware - often using colours inspired by the sea, earth and sky - and in this case by the island's sand and rocks.
Mdina glass was an instant success, partly due to the strong tourist industry of Malta. These early pieces are keenly sought after.
This cute conical vase is shaped like a large beach pebble or banded stone.
The main body colour of a beige tone with wavy bands of striated glass running around the main body. This type of decoration was called: Earthtones.
It is about 5 inches in height and with a diameter of about 5 inches.
Weight unpacked is 1.2 kg.
Due to the weight and size - this vase would have to be in a medium-sized parcel with Tracked Royal Mail. This would cost £6.95 and applied to your order at checkout.
No damages, chips or cracks. With engraved signature to the base.
