This is a fine German Art Deco Glass Lamp designed by Karl Weidermann.
It dates to around the 1930s and was made by WMF in Germany.
It is known as an Ikora Lamp.
This one is in excellent damage free condition.
It is a flattened conical shape - with a very striated and mottled glass finish - the main body colour is made of streaks of tangerine / burnt orange - and dark ruby red shades. It is mottled with spots of ochre-coloured glass contained in the glass - the veining of the glass is just quite lovely
On top - is the original chrome lamp fitting (the bulb holder is a new replacement one so that we could earth the fitment for safety (to conform with modern standards).
The electric flex attaches (as originally designed) to the chrome collar of the lamp, as photographed - and the lamp is turned on and off with the finger switch on the bulb holder.
It does not come with a shade - but should be easy for you to source an appropriate shade to your own taste.
There is a fitting and also a light bulb inside the glass base section - and this works as photographed.
The has an impressed WMF mark on the chrome collar.
Dimensions: The height from the base to the chrome fitting on the neck level is 6 inches (15 cm). The diameter at the widest is 8 1/4 inches (21 cm).
The weight unpacked is 1.9 kg (it is thickly cased glass).
It has been re-wired and comes with 3 meters of black cloth three-core cable. Fully earthed and ready to use.
These original WMF lamps are now highly sought after - and often you might find only the glass body section without any of the chrome fittings. It certainly looks amazing all lit up inside with a rich glow and with the more usual bulb on top.
