This is a vintage powder compact for loose face powders. It would not take a cake of pressed powder.
It also has inside its original powder sifter or mesh for loose powder and its original little unused powder puff. This fine Stratton one also has an internal metal lid that closes and remains shut with a tiny catch. This is marked with the Stratton logo on the top.
It has an engine-turned decoration on the base, as photographed. This is mirror finished and gleaming!
It dates to the late 1950s or early 1960s.
It has never been used and is in a like-new condition - so no hygiene issues with it. It even still has its original "care" instructions on the internal mirror. It comes with a little original yellow fabric pouch and card box (some scuffing as photographed).
The main body is gold-tone - and the top of the lid has a transfer printed image of a cute little pair of blue budgies sitting on a tree branch. Very pretty mid-century pressed powder compact. The decoration on the lid is a little delicate being printed on - so might be for your collection display or just for special occasions rather than "everyday" use.
The mirror inside the lid is clean and without marks or spots on the surface.
The diameter is 7.5 cm (3 inches). It is a slimmer compact - with a height of 1 cm.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection and indeed how iconic the budgerigar motif is.
My asking price reflects its age and its exceptional condition.
