This is a vintage powder compact for pressed face powders.
It is marked on the bottom of the mirror: Melissa.
It dates to the late 1950s or early 1960s.
It has hardly been used - it still has its original vintage pressed powder cake inside and a used Melissa puff. I will pop in a new clean one with the compact.
The main body is gold-tone - and the top of the lid has a traditional countryside scene with three horse riders in red frock coats on horseback.
This is a traditional image of English huntsmen - they are not shown hunting foxes and I like to think that they are out on a drag trail. The image is in vignette form and has been transfer-printed in colours on the lid.
The mirror inside the lid is clean and without marks or spots on the surface.
This compact is more unusual - being a square shape - it measures 7.5 cm (3 inches).
I have taken lots of images for your inspection.
My asking price reflects its age and its exceptional condition.
UK postage will be £4.95 and applied at check-out. I have a number of vintage powder compacts in my online shop. Multiple purchases will be capped at £4.95 in postage to you.
