This is a part of a selection of rarer 1950s British tablewares that I am listing. Postal discounts would of course apply for multiple purchases.
On offer here is a single 6 1/2 inch side plate. It was made by Crown Ducal - as you can see on the lovely back stamp on the base. The pattern name is Arizona - this is a very rare and popular mid-century design - probably one for the more specialist collector of 50s tablewares. A have a few different pieces in my store.
This design is totally wonderful - one of my favourites.
It is a design called Arizona and it looks at a garden or patio in Arizona. near the Mexican border. The pattern features a green table with spindly legs and is covered above with a red and black striped canopy. The table is in a desert garden - and it features a selection of succulent plants and cacti in pots that are randomly arranged in the design. The little plants with round leaves or berries are very atomic in form - and totally suited to 50s design. The pattern is repeated on all other pieces in the range.
They are certainly rarer survivors and not so many dinnerware pieces with this pattern seem to have survived. The rarity of these, the attractiveness of the design, and the fact that these are now over 60 years old and in generally good vintage condition are reflected in my asking price.
Please check the details in all my images in close-up.
This is a pretty side plate. It measures 6 1/2 inches in diameter. Unpacked the set is 170 grams in weight. It has a tiny restored chip to the edge - and this is reflected in the lower price for this item.
They are in pretty good vintage condition. There are no disfiguring cutlery marks on the pattern or surface.
I am pricing it at £12. It would certainly look fabulous on display on your wall or on display in a conservatory or garden room.
