This is a stylish little 1960s Scottish glass paperweight - made by Strathearn Glass. It comes with its original blue leather presentation box - as photographed. These boxes date to the 60s.
It is a match to the other blue one that is on my site - but does not seem to have the little "S" (Strathearn) cane set into the base on the blue flower weight. There is a little white cane - but this does not have the letter S in it.
The paperweight is a more unusual egg-shaped one and around the sides, it has a total of 4 tall oval faceted and polished viewing panels - with four smaller oval-shaped ones in the spaces below the larger ones at the base.
Inside is a beautifully created pink and white lampwork flower, with three spreading green leaves below. The base is a flecked rose and purple glass tone.
It was difficult to photograph the little flower contained within the weight, due to lots of reflections, so hope that my photographs do it justice.
Height: 3 1/4 inches. It is 2 1/4 inches at the widest point.
These 1960s issues are a little more complicated in the making than my later 70s ones. The earlier ones have all the faceted viewing windows - so a lot more skill has gone into the making of them. This is reflected in my asking price.
In its blue box, it weighs 600 grams. The box is in fair vintage condition - the hinges have oxidised a little with age but it remains fixed top and bottom section.
In good vintage condition with no chips or damages.
