This is a fine SINGLE vintage Edinburgh Crystal tall goblet or red wine glass.
The Star of Edinburgh pattern is a classic one, first introduced by Edinburgh Crystal in 1948.
The price here is for one - but I have pairs listed in my store as well. (The bowl height on this one is a little larger on my other ones).
As you can see, it is a very large goblet and would be good for a large glass of wine. This one is in perfect condition with no damage.
This one measures 7 inches in height (the bowl is nearly 4 inches). The rim has a diameter of 3 5/8 inches. The foot is 3 1/8 inches. When tapped it has a beautiful ring, which is a mark of quality.
This large size is hard to source - I have listed at a very fair price of £30
I have taken lots of photographs for your inspection.
Postage for his glass will be with Royal Mail Recorded Post. This will cost £4.95 and be applied to your order at checkout.
History:
The Edinburgh and Leith Flint Glassworks was established in the 1860's at Leith Walk Glassworks and later at Norton Park in Edinburgh.
In 1921 the glassworks became part of Webbs Crystal Glass Company.
In 1955, The Edinburgh and Leith Glassworks became Edinburgh Crystal, and the next decade saw further expansion and eventually the demolition of the old glassworks at Norton Park and new premises at Penicuik 10 miles south of Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Crystal went into administration in July 2006. Although the brand was taken over by the Waterford / Wedgwood Group the factory no longer exists and the brand is now discontinued.
